How to have fantastic starlight effect without fantastic prices:
Starlight lining is very popular and very impressive. It is also very expensive.
For those who haven't witnessed it starlight lining (or starcloth) is a black interior lining that has some form of lighting attached in to it, this may be strings of small bulbs (similar to fairy lights) or it may be lengths of fibre optic cables. Either way the desired effect is to have a dark twinkling ceiling.
To give an idea of cost a black starlight roof lining is between ten and twenty times the cost of one of our flat ivory roof linings. Please note we don't make starlight linings outrselves, if you really want one then as always we can point you in the direction of someone in the industry who can.
As well as being very expensive having a black lining can be unpopular during the day - it makes the marquee look dark and claustrophobic rather than light and airy as it does with an ivory lining.
When our customers want a starlight lining effect we offer two solutions:
1. Use Christmas tree fairy lights behind an ivory lining. This is by far the most popular option as you can have a twinkling ceiling (nicely difffused through the translucent ivory lining material) whilst also being able to use the marquee as normal during the day. In fact having the fairy lights behind the roof lining means that no one knows they are there until it's dark and you turn them on when the music starts.
A very cheap solution and a very very popular option.
2. The second option is to create your own starlight lining using fairy lights attached to blackout linings. When we make our blackout linings we sew in small black tabs, these can be used to attached on dark strings (normally dark green) of fairy lights criss-crossing the ceiling. When it's dark the cable and fixings are difficult to see so you are again achieving a fantastic starlight lining effect without the fantastic price tag attached.
